A name tells a little story about the person. Its the meaning behind the name that counts. For Chinese, naming a baby is important as the name is to go with the flow of the baby’s elements, namely; Earth, Fire, Metal, Water and Wood. Some name a baby according to the number of strokes in the characters required, some go with the words that complement the elements. Some combine the both when they find the sound of the name a little weird on the tongue.

For couples who give Christian names or English names for their children after giving them their Chinese names, they search for the unique name so that when someone call their name, they know it is only them. In the past, it was the trend to name the children after famous writers or what was trending. Names like Cindy, Claudia, Andy, Tony, Michelle, John were common.

For a name to trend, it might just take a movie that is of high popularity to make it a trend. Transformers made the name McKayla or variants of it popular. McKayla has a beautiful meaning: Who is like God. Sometimes, a name trends because of its sound and some parents have been known to change the spelling but kept the sound of it.

When you first got married, the first thoughts you might have is to grow old with your partner. Have you ever wondered how people stayed loving to each other despite the years and the occasional disputes now and then? One of the life’s rules is to love with sincerity and honesty.

You may ask how to do that. Love with sincerity comes from the heart. Honesty is to love your partner as true as you can without thinking of others and comparing their actions to others. It’s one of the steps to have a long lasting relationship with each other.

Family Classic: Mary Poppins

While Mary Poppins was filmed by Walt Disney Pictures in the 1960s, it’s still a classic with the songs like A Spoonful of Sugar and Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. What was unknown could be the fact that the original Mary Poppins in the book by P. L. Travers is that Mary is stern in the books while the one in the live motion picture was stern but kind to the children. To know more about the musical movie, check out the trivia here.

Julie Andrews went on to film The Sound of Music after that even though Mary Poppins wasn’t released on screen yet. For Mary Poppins (film), the storyline started off with the children running after a kite and the nanny ran away. Thus, the Banks started on a search for a nanny who could take the kids in hand.

While some of the scenes may seem awkward, that was the available technology in the 1960s, with a real robin that is trained to fly towards someone could be unheard of at that time. While some of the songs in the movie became more popular, there were other songs that were scrapped and only a few being used in other shows.

Bert, a long time friend of Mary was often shown to be able to do anything and loved to go along with the antics of the Banks children. He had a way of making Mary frown at him whenever he did that. The chirpy settings in the movie also included cartoons dancing along with Bert and Mary.

It might just get your family together for a singing good time with this timeless classic, Mary Poppins.
