On the wedding day, the bride and groom often have friends who will accompany them in the morning. The groom will have his ‘brothers’ to help him to pass the tests that the bride’s ’sisters’ will give them.
These are usually in the form of games to ensue hilarity when the groom and his friends try to pass them. The sisters often get red packets (ang baos) each time the groom and his brothers fail a test. This door game is played to delay the bride’s leaving.
Games That can be Played
- Playing Ban Luck (21 Points). The groom has to win with 21 points with just 2 cards.
- Eating of sour, sweet, bitter and spicy (酸甜苦辣) foods. It is to symbolise the couple’s coming years by overcoming each situtation together.
- Push ups, rather physical and hot in Singapore’s humid weather.
- Singing love songs.
- Declaring his love for the bride loudly so that she can hear in her bedroom.
- Answering questions about the bride.
- Answering questions about their courtship.
