The Hardest Goodbye

How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard. ~ From the movie Annie ~ [Source]

Ever had a difficult time saying goodbye to your better half? Even though he or she could be overseas for just 3 days, you find it hard to say goodbye? Take the case of this old couple who have been with each other for more than 50 years. It is no mean feat to stay together for so long.

One day, the old man suffered a stroke that left him half paralysed. The wife started to take care of him. Until he quietly passed away one night. It was the most difficult goodbye she had to say to him. He was always taking care of the family and she didn’t need to worry. He would make sure that she would have her favourite food on her birthday.

She just needed to tell him that the light bulb was spoilt and it would be replaced on the day itself. When he was half paralysed, she realised that she had to do all those things herself. She cleaned up the mess he made, let him have his favourite food and took care of him.

It was time to say goodbye forever to her best confidant, friend and husband. She couldn’t say it. She didn’t want him to leave her yet. She hadn’t had the chance to give him what he deserved. A good pampering from her. He was now gone. Just like that.

A marriage is for life. This couple went through various phases in life and still loved each other very much.

Did you have your hardest goodbye?

[...] I haven’t been sleeping well since. Some of you may scoff at the idea of losing sleep over some guinea pig. However, any pet owner will be upset at the lost of their pets because they have been spending time bonding together and gotten to love each other. Imagine living together with your Labrador for 15 years. It passed away due to sickness or old age. You have been walking around the neighbourhood every day and the loss has changed the routine. How does that feel? [...]

Paying Attention to Each Other

One of the greatest gifts you can give to anyone is the gift of attention. ~ Jim Rohn ~ [Source]

Have you paid attention to your family or spouse lately? As the sole breadwinner of the family, you have been busy with work and returning home late. You haven’t been paying attention to your spouse who could be faced by your family.

Other times, you could be focusing on giving good impressions so much that you neglect the part about listening. Over the years, you get comfortable with one another and forget to pay attention. Your child just needs you to look at them and say it’s ok that they didn’t get that full marks because they have tried their best.

Your spouse just needs a shoulder to cry on when they had a bad day or received bad news. Just like you do. Any relationship needs to be nurtured just like plants. Have you paid attention to each other yet?
