While interracial marriages are becoming more common these days, marriage that is of international citizenships have been on the rise too. We may have friends who are dating someone who is of a citizenship that is different from ours.
A bride from China has to live in Singapore as her husband has good job prospects here. A Singaporean bride has to live in Malaysia as her husband prefers to work and live in Malaysia. A Filipino bride has to live in England as her husband loves his country.
It does seem that brides often are the ones who have to uproot from their families to live with the husbands. There are also conflicts when a wife doesn’t want to move while the husband had seemingly given her the impression that he is utterly happy with the current place suddenly decides to move.
The feeling of living in a different country and holidaying in another country is totally different. One needs to get used to living in a different culture and living standards. There will be constraints if a spouse decides to stay in a country while the other goes back to living where they feel happiest in.
How would you handle it if you have to be uprooted? How about those who wants your spouse to live in your preferred country?
