Don’t tell me where your priorities are. Show me where you spend your money and I’ll tell you what they are. ~ James W. Frick ~ [Source]
Weddings are costing more these days especially with the inflation and petrol prices driving up the costs. No one wants to start off a marriage in debt. The money usually goes to the hotel and restaurants. Consider the bridal essentials before you overspend as you won’t want to end up in conflicts because of the decisions made during the preparations.
The easiest way is to invite fewer people. However, it’s also the toughest as the parents may be unhappy about not inviting a relative as the relative may talk the ears off each Chinese New Year for not being invited despite the relative not being in close relationship with the family.

Another way is to avoid the high season and get flowers that are in season. Roses are in season all year round although during Valentine’s Day, they are the most expensive. If buffet is a possible solution for you, do it. Dinners costs are going up every year. It may be $600 per table this year but it may be $700 next year.
Photography is a way to keep the lovely memories and it is also one of the most expensive too. If you are comfortable with amateurs, go ahead. Get friends who are good with cameras if you like to cut down your costs.

If you can cut down on alcohol, all the best as they can cost quite a dent in your pockets. Especially if you have guests who love to drink. However, they may complain of not being able to have fun at the wedding.
Negotiations with the vendors such as the hotel and restaurants should be done. The prices may change according to the amount of drinks and food being served. Negotiate for free flow of orange juice and tea. Get a friend to restrict the number of bottles of wines and hard alcohol being opened.
