Asia has a colourful culture. From China to Japan and to India. Each country has its own wedding traditions with the main idea in mind; a happy and long lasting marriage. Chinese weddings has quite a number of customs to adhere to; proposal gifts, preparations and more.
The Japanese bride will wear the kimono and is painted in white from head to toe to represent purity. The families of the couple will sit facing each other while the ritual of drinking nine cups of sake is being observed. The Korean bride will be wearing the traditional costume for the traditional Introduction ceremony. The groom’s father will throw red dates at the bride in hope of brining in luck for fertility.
In Thailand, monks will bless the couple before they start the marriage registration. It is considered bad luck for guests to attend a Thai wedding wearing black. This is the same for a Chinese wedding. Red is an auspicious colour and the elders will frown on seeing any guests who wear black to a wedding. Black is for attending funerals and it is best not to make things difficult for the couple.
