The only thing that will make you happy is being happy with who you are, and not who people think you are. ~ Goldie Hawn ~ [Source]
It’s often easy to compare than to accept the way things are. Before settling on your wedding gown, you will compare the gown with others before selecting what you feel is best for you. There are times when we subconsciously compare people.

Even when a spouse has to be chosen. Marriage is for life. Accepting who your spouse is doesn’t mean that you should tolerate physical and emotional abuse. Acceptance is about your spouse’s personality. Personalities can’t be changed but character can.
You may be a neat freak while your spouse isn’t. Let them know that you would be happy with them putting the clothes where they belong. Be positive about it and they won’t resent you for berating them for not putting the clothes in the proper place. By constantly asserting your positiveness, they will soon understand that it isn’t that much of a chore to put the clothes back. It’s cleaning up the mess that is a chore.
Be happy with yourself so that you will be able to accept the flaws. Your spouse may not like to wake up before 8am while you prefer to be the early bird that catches the worm. Work things out together so that when there is a need to bring the kids out early on a Saturday morning, your spouse won’t grumble about it.
Happiness doesn’t mean the other party has to change. It begins with yourself.
